The Filtronic Group (which includes Filtronic plc, its subsidiaries and their business units) recognises its responsibilities in relation to the environment and is committed to achieving best environmental practice throughout its business activities. Environmental management at Filtronic is based upon continuous improvement consistent with current knowledge.
The Management of each Business Unit within the Filtronic Group shall ensure that relevant local legislative requirements are addressed and to brief, train and monitor compliance to this Policy. Each Business Unit shall generate procedures, based upon the above and reflecting the legal requirements of the territories within which they operate.
With regard to its overall environmental objectives and targets, Filtronic plc will:
- Implement environmentally sound working practices throughout the Filtronic Group.
- Comply with all relevant legislation and regulations and, where reasonably practicable, exceed these standards.
- Incorporate appropriate environmental factors into business decisions.
- Develop management processes and operational procedures whose functions are to prevent pollution and improve and manage environmental performance.
- Reduce the consumption of raw materials, minimise the use of environmentally sensitive materials and promote the use of recycled materials, wherever possible.
- Ensure all waste is managed, treated and disposed of in an environmentally acceptable manner and, wherever practicable, minimise waste.
- Conduct audits on-site to ensure operations are compliant with environmental requirements.
- Provide appropriate levels of training and support to personnel to ensure they are able to fulfil on-site environmental management responsibilities.
- Work with major suppliers, contractors and customers to assist in their environmental performance improvement and in particular to assist our customers demonstrate WEE and ROSH compliance.
- Endeavour at all times to avoid the use in operations of ozone depleting substances.
- Make the environmental policy available to the public and be supportive of local community environmental initiatives. Ensure appropriate resources are available to fully implement the environmental policy and continuously review the policy’s relevance with respect to legal and business developments.
